UPDATE: Tuesday, Sept. 8 (11:35 a.m. ET) – Turns out during his visit to Alaska, President Barack Obama really ran wild with Bear Grylls, who actually enticed the Commander in Chief to chow down on some raw salmon that had previously been gnawed on by a bear — not Bear Grylls, mind you, an actual bear.

“Bear’s a mediocre cook, but the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging,” the president says in the clip, courtesy of The Today Show. “Now, the fact that he told me this was a leftover fish from a bear, I don’t know if that was necessary. He could have just left that out.” Watch:

U.S. President Barack Obama is shining the spotlight on climate change, and he’s enlisted the help of TV’s pre-eminent outdoor adventurer to help him spread the message: Bear Grylls.

The star of Running Wild With Bear Grylls joined the Commander in Chief as he spent the day exploring the Alaskan wilderness, snapping photos of the breathtaking scenery (and the occasional selfie) to post on the White House Instagram account.

Glad this was the only Bear I met in the park. -bo

The President’s meeting with Grylls is part of a three-day visit to Alaska to raise awareness of the impact that climate change is having in America’s northernmost state.
