David Attenborough has hit out at Bear Grylls for killing animals on his U.K. TV show.

Grylls, 43, allows animals such as crocodiles, pigs, and turkeys to be killed on “The Island”, which sees the star abandon 13 people in a remote, uninhabited location for a month, but Attenborough, 91, insists he’d never dream of doing such a thing.

The veteran broadcaster told The Sun: “We’ve never killed an animal. Bear Grylls will have to answer for himself. But I wouldn’t willingly kill an animal just to get a shot.”

Animal rights charity PETA have previously had their say over Grylls killing animals on-screen, with a spokesperson saying, according to The Telegraph: “Killing animals is a cheap ratings ploy and sends an especially harmful message to young viewers, who are greatly influenced by what they see on TV.

“Bear Grylls and the producers should be prosecuted. Fame doesn’t mean immunity.”

Attenborough’s latest comments come after witnessing the dangers of plastic on the environment while filming his show “Blue Planet II”.

The legendary naturalist shared, according to The Independent: “We’ve seen albatrosses come back with their belly full of food for their young and nothing in it.

“The albatross parent has been away for three weeks gathering stuff for her young and what comes out? What does she give her chick? You think it’s going to be squid, but it’s plastic. The chick is going to starve and die,” Attenborough added.
